For more than a decade, Bernice Shaw poured her energy into the Center for Story-based Strategy, eventually serving as Co-Director and working shoulder to shoulder with a remarkable team. Together, they expanded the organization’s reach, equipping thousands of change agents and hundreds of movement organizations to harness narrative as a force for social change.

Now, Bernice partners with courageous leaders, teams, and organizations who are daring to dream, facing transition, or wrestling with tough challenges. She brings sharp facilitation and narrative strategy to help people find clarity, envision new possibilities, and drive meaningful work ahead. Bernice knows that movements thrive when their people are whole and healthy, and she is unwavering in her commitment to support the next generation of movement leaders.

Born in Los Angeles and raised in a multilingual home where English was her third language, Bernice is now reconnecting with her roots in Japan and Taiwan/Formosa, carrying her lineage forward with pride. Beyond her work, she is a classically trained bad jazz flute player, a former junior golfer, and above all, Sky’s mom. She and her family live in Southern California.
